IT was 48-year-old GP Sarah Myhill who took the plaudits at the Ludlow Hunt point to point on Easter Saturday when the galloping doctor scored her first ever win aboard her horse Captain Rawlings in the Confined race at the Bitterley circuit.

Captain Rawlings and the Presteigne-based Myhill had finished strongly as a close second in the Ladies' Open at the recent Teme Valley meeting and she proved that was no fluke with a determined performance.

Always close to the head of affairs in the eight-runner race, it seemed as if the favourite Supreme Citizen would take the race over the final three fences.

But it was Captain Rawlings who showed the better turn of foot to score by a length and a half at the post.

Premium First, owned by Clive Hitchings, trained by Andy Hobbs and ridden by Adrian Wintle, took another step towards the title of leading horse in the West Midlands area as he brought his seasonal total to five wins with another success in the Men's Open.

Sent off a 4/9 favourite in a six-runner field, Premium First duly scored as anticipated but by only by a length and a half over runner-up Which Pocket.

Connections will now be looking for a possible hunter chase as his next target.

Jockey Claire Allen approached the meeting seeking her seventh win in seven rides as she partnered Watchyourback in the Ladies' Open - and against limited opposition she duly scored aboard her partner who was sent off a heavily odds-on 1/4 favourite.

Bromsash trainer Marilyn Scudamore sent out another winner to maintain her run when Selassie outstayed his rivals in the Restricted Open, always just holding off the persistent challenge of eventual runner-up Sweet Citizen by a length.

The final Maiden race of the day saw a win for Ombersley owner trainer Angela Aston as her Phatic, partnered by Andy Hanly, produced a thrilling finish on the run-in to snatch a late victory from Astormydayiscom-ing.
