Orleton-based racing drivers Roger and Scott Moran shared victories at Loton Park on Monday when they contested the two opening rounds of the British Hill Climb Championship.

Scott Moran won the morning run-off with a time of 46.54 seconds over the 1,475 yards Shropshire track. His father Roger took second spot with 46.70 ahead of Simon Durling on 47.03.

It was Roger's turn to lead in the afternoon session when he raced up the course to set the best time of the day with 46.26. Reigning champion Martin Groves followed on 46.34 and Scott was third with 46.89.

Leominster driver Jim Bassett won the hotly contested 1600cc racing car class in his 20-year-old Sark with a time of 50.98 seconds. And Hay-on-Wye's Brian Robbins took a win in the 1100cc racing car class on 51.93.
