Luctonians 2nd 35 pts Llandrindod Wells 3

LUCTONIANS 2nd rounded off an off an excellent season by winning the Jaques International Floodlit Cup for the third year in succession at Mortimer Park.

Playing against the wind in the first half, Luctonians faced a committed Llandrindod team who used the elements well and spent long periods deep in home-team territory.

A resolute defence and an off-day for the Llandrindod penalty-taker saw them only capitalise this pressure with three points in the first 10 minutes.

But Luctonians gradually started to put together phases of play and from one of these ex-Llandrindod captain Neil Warrilow came off the back of a well driven maul and touched down in the corner.

In the second half Sam McGowan put boot to ball and used the wind well to give the visitors' back three a night that they would prefer to forget.

Both Sean Kisiel and new boy Chris Condon picked up tries on the chase, as did the outstanding Dan Pugh.

The Luctonians back row, led by captain Jim Archer, dominated and scrum-half Ollie Williams had a comfortable ride and snapped up a try to finish the game.

Luctonians try-scorers: Dan Pugh (2), Neil Warrilow, Dan Pugh), Sean Kisiel, Ollie Williams, Chris Condon.
