ALTHOUGH Ledbury picked up a good point at home to Goodrich, they slipped to the bottom of the West Midlands premier division table after Smethwick gained a surprise 3-2 win over Dudley Town.

LEDBURY TOWN 1, GOODRICH 1

The first-half of Saturday's clash was a dull affair with both sides cancelling each other out.

After the break, Ledbury started to show more threat in attack with Alex Volosanovs and Nick Welch prominent.

Lee Hooper, back after injury, finally brought the break-through as he opened the scoring after Mark Brookes had headed on a Welch corner.

But the Ledbury joy fizzled out five minutes from the end when the home defence failed to clear a corner and Mike Davies headed home.

Ledbury have 24 points from 35 games and trail both Smethwick and Kington, who occupy the two places above them, by two points.

They have a game in hand over Smethwick, and two in hand over their Herefordshire rivals.

On Wednesday evening Ledbury Town visited Goodrich and lost 6-0.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Ledbury Town are away at Smethwick Rangers (2.45), and on Easter Monday visit Bromyard Town (7.45).
