SUNDAY proved to be very interesting in thesoccersite.co.uk Malvern League as new league leaders Oak Allstars and third-placed Cross Keys began their games anticipating making further steps towards their title aspirations.

Long-time leaders Bell Inn 98 faced a daunting visit to a resurgent Morgan Aero 8 side, where defeat could have virtually ended their title hopes.

But at the final whistles, it was Bell Inn 98 who unexpectedly found themselves back on top of the table with victory whilst both Oak Allstars and Cross Keys, who had amassed 247 league goals between them, found neither of them could find the net as they were both held to 0-0 draws.

These results mean that the title race is still between all three teams and could go all the way to the last day of the season when Cross Keys entertain Oak Allstars.

Bell Inn 98 took the points at Morgan Aero 8 with a hard-earned 3-2 victory over a good home side. In an entertaining and sporting contest, it was Morgan Aero 8 who took the lead when Dave Lawrence ran through and slotted home. It became 1-1 when following a goalmouth scramble, Dan Herbert was left with the easy task of putting the ball into an empty net.

Bell Inn 98 took the lead in the second-half when Lee Hooper crossed for Dan Herbert to head home at the back post. Both sides had chances before Morgan Aero 8 equalised with a well-taken goal by James Argent. Their celebrations were cut short when virtually from the restart Bell Inn 98 regained the lead when Chris Grubb found man-of-the-match Lee Hooper, who capped a fine performance when he deftly lobbed the home keeper.

The game swung from end to end but there was no further scoring and the whistle went to leave Bell Inn 98 a point clear at the top.

Oak Allstars visited the only team to beat them this season, Dynamo Ledbury, and they again proved to be Oak's bogey team as they held the high-scoring team to a goalless draw.

Dynamo had the better of the first half with Allstars being on top in the second, but neither side were able to capitalise on their chances.

Cross Keys entertained Talbot Head, who they had beaten away 5-1 the previous week. However, a splendid performance by the visitors, with Jon Patterson having a fine game, combined with Damion Lloyd missing a Cross Keys' spot-kick in the 75th minute, saw the points shared in a 0-0 draw.

Bottom club Keys Victoria were only two minutes away from their first league victory for two seasons when Ganglands managed to snatch an equaliser in a 4-4 draw. A hat-trick from Gordon Mansell put Ganglands 3-1 up but with goals from Kevin Gregg, Dan Foskett, Wayne Robinson and Julian Robinson, Keys Victoria fought back to lead 4-3 before that late equaliser from Tom Bethell dashed their hopes.

Oak Misfits beat visitors Belmont Keys 4-1. Dave Jones gave Belmont the lead before Asa Smith equalised and then a 25-yard bullet from Adam Sharpe gave Misfits the advantage. Jason Emery, who was playing his first game after returning from a lengthy injury spell, headed home to make it 3-1 and the scoring was wrapped-up by another Asa Smith goal from close range.

Keyz 04 beat visitors Fromes Hill Reserves 4-2. Keyz 04 goals came from Mark White, Andrew Lancett and two from Alexander Peck, with Fromes Hill Reserves goals coming from Jason Stavert and Matt Brooke.

The team-of-the-month award for February went to Talbot Head with Oak Allstars taking the award for March.
