Winter's over but there will be ice-skating in Ledbury this Easter.

Community support officer Alison Dore has arranged for a temporary ice-skating rink to be installed at the youth centre on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 18-19.

Tickets are £3 and are selling fast, with less than 150 left out of 400. Take-up has been particularly high at Ledbury primary.

Ms Dore said: "This is a really good opportunity for kids in particular to have a go at ice-skating in the middle of town, and it doesn't get any better than that!

"I learnt to skate when I was 40 and I loved it. But I won't be skating myself this time, just supervising. Everyone is encouraged to have a go."

Children must be accompanied by an adult, who can pay to skate with them or watch from the sidelines for free.

The rink will be operational from 11am and each session will last around four hours. Insurance requirements require people to wear thick gloves and socks in order to be allowed to skate.

The cost of tickets has been kept down thanks to a £385 grant from Ledbury Town Council. Ledbury Area Drug Forum has provided other funding. Refreshments will be available on both days, provided by young people who attend the youth centre.

Tickets for skating are available from Ms Dore on 07970 602338, parish officer Leatte Clarke on 07939 055293 or Ledbury Police Station, from 9am to 1pm.
