QUEEN Elizabeth High School, Bromyard, introduced rugby for the first time this year and already boasts a county player and a tournament trophy.

Pupil Matt Oliver has been selected for the county U14 quad and the U13s boys' team won the Minister sevens tournament, beating local side St Richard's in the final.

The U14 team reached the semi-final of the Luctonian tournament, where the girls' team also put in a good show, narrowly missing out on reaching the semi-finals.

Head of PE, Wendy Carter said: "We are thrilled by our pupils enthusiasm for rugby. Many who have previously not represented the school are now getting involved and gaining a great deal from it."

New teacher Seb Seneque introduced the sport to the school with enthusiasm and expertise.

Anthony Horsnett and Andy Ralph have been busy coaching the boys and A and J Ralph Building Contractors sponsored the new kit.
