PEOPLE collecting Malvern water from a spring on the hills are helping people in India.
For the last six years, Kevin and Ruth Walton, of Colwall, have been running a Penny-A-Pint scheme to raise money for Water Aid.
People who collect water from the spout just off West Malvern Road can take part.
They are given collecting boxes and encouraged to put in a penny for every pint they collect from the spring.
Mr and Mrs Walton have just sent off £1,159.77 collected in 2005. Money is channelled to six slums in the city of Bhopal.
So far, it has paid for three new wells with hand pumps, 12 tap stands and 110 new household latrines, as well as the restoration of two hand pumps.
They are eager to recruit more collectors. Anyone interested can call 01684 540596.
