NEWENT in Bloom's campaign will be launched at an awareness day on Friday, April 28, underneath the Market House. There will be plant sales, an exhibition and preview of competition plans for this year, from 9am to 1pm. Campaign organisers have also reached an agreement with the Probation Service for people on community service orders to help with the work.
CONTRACTORS W S Atkins will brief Newent town councillors on a major programme of town centre works at a meeting on May 8.
The political German comedy The Edukators will be the next Newent Community Cinema screening at the Memorial Hall on Thursday, April 27, at 7.30pm.
Newent Civic Society has organised a heritage walk, starting from the Red Lion pub at 6.30pm on Tuesday, April 25. The cost is £2 per person and to book, call 01594 812387.
