SWINDON Town discard Nicky Nicolau admits to enjoying life on loan at Hereford United.

The 22-year-old midfielder arrived at Edgar Street in January and will stay for the rest of the season to help United's play-off push.

Nicolau has already won over Bulls supporters with a series of strong performances and netting the dramatic injury-time equaliser against Accrington Stanley last Saturday, a goal that prevented Stanley equalling United's record of 11 straight Conference wins.

Should the Bulls clinch a Football League return, it would be the second consecutive promotion for Nicolau.

Last year, he was part of the Southend United squad that clinched promotion to League One.

"I felt fully fit again and that's a big factor," said Nicolau "It's going well, I'm enjoying it and I think it's very beneficial.

"Hopefully, I can help Hereford get promotion to the Football League. That would be a second promotion for me in the space of two seasons. We're going well and the boys are confident."

Although the former Arsenal youngster has cemented a regular place in Graham Turner's side, his long-term future is in the air.

Nicolau joined Swindon from Southend last summer but, following a number of injuries, featured just four times for the Wiltshire club. Once he recovered, he found himself down the pecking order.

Gaining match fitness at Hereford, he is eager to make a point to Swindon boss Iffy Onuora, but suspects his future may lie away from the County Ground.

Nicolau added: "I know the gaffer (Onuora) came to see a (Hereford) game and this is about me proving myself.

"I wasn't really getting much involvement at Swindon and I think the gaffer felt there were people in front of me, but you never rule anything out.

"If I'm not in the plans then you know there are other people watching these games. It's just great to be playing though."
