Bromyard Town 3 Smethwick ST 2

BROMYARD recovered from going two goals behind inside the first half-hour to come back and snatch a late winner to progress into the next round of the West Midlands League Premier Division Cup.

Michael Davies netted twice for the visitors in the opening 25 minutes to give Town an uphill task at Delahay Meadow. They responded positively and, with Barry McClean in outstanding form in goal denying Smethwick of any chance to add to their two goals, a remarkable turnabout took place.

Alex Taffe strode on to a defence splitting pass from his skipper Rob Woodward and slotted the ball past the advancing keeper to reduce the arrears.

Bromyard dominated the second half but failed to tuck away their chances until Taffe levelled the tie with his second goal 12 minutes from time. He was a little fortunate as his 10-yard shot took a deflection on the way in.

With three minutes on the clock, and extra-time beckoning, new boy Goran Zujovic headed on for Woodward to coolly stab home the winner from close range.
