A FESTIVAL of fun activities aimed at young people is returning to Bromyard during February half-term.

Bromyard Youth Fest, which is organised by the town's community support officer, is aimed at children between six and 17 and runs at a variety of venues from next Monday to next Friday (February 13-19).

All of the activities are sponsored by Bromyard Area Drugs Forum and include drama workshops, paintballing and bowling sessions, and a trip to the swimming baths.

To take part in the bigger trips, the youngsters must get involved with at least two community projects, which are also being organised as part of the Youth Fest.

These include a litter pick and sessions on drug awareness and sexual health.

"The idea of Youth Fest is to provide a range of fun activities during the school half-term to help combat the age-old complaint that there is nothing for young people to do in the holidays," explained Community Service Office Joanna Isaac.

She added that there would be a small charge for each activity and places on the larger activities must be booked in advance on a first come, first served basis.

Volunteers are also being sought to help out with the activities. A Police Criminal Records check is essential to be able to work with young people and anyone who would like to help should contact CSO Isaac as soon as possible.

Full itineraries and further information about all events are also available from CSO Isaac by calling 08457 444888, extension 4580 or 07816 169707.

Alternatively, call into Bromyard Police Station for further details.
