Westfields 1 Coalville 2

POOR finishing denied Westfields a share of the points as the city side slipped to their 17th Harvey World Travel Midlands Alliance defeat of the season.

With 17 matches still to play, Westfields are still capable of avoiding the drop but should have taken advantage of some good early chances to establish a lead.

Roy Jordan shot high over in the opening minutes and Paul Burton had a shot smothered by the Coalville goalkeeper on 12 minutes.

Burton was again unlucky on the stroke of half-time with a cracking 20-yard drive which flashed inches wide of an upright.

But the Westfields pressure paid off a minute into the second period when the Coalville goalkeeper Sean Bowles dropped a Mark Hibbard cross and Mark Davis pounced to force home his eighth league goal of the season.

Derek Craddock shot weakly straight at Bowles when another chance opened up just afterwards and Westfields were made to regret the miss when Damian Russell cracked a fierce drive past goalkeeper Rory Hollingshead to level the scores.

The visitors then took the lead when Hibbard lost possession to Russell and his cross was tapped in for a simple goal by Ashley Warner.

Westfields should have equalised, however, when Burton's shot beat Bowles but bounced wide of a post.
