Ewyas Harold 7 Ledbury Town Res 1

FOUR first-half goals by the prolific Matt Pitt helped to sweep holders Ewyas Harold into the final of this season's HFA Charity Bowl.

The game was marred, however, by an ankle injury to the Ledbury goalkeeper who was forced to leave the field before half-time.

Pitt opened the scoring when he outpaced the visiting defence before firing a shot into the bottom corner of the net. A swift turn and shot brought his second goal before he completed his hat-trick after racing on to a superbly-weighted through pass from John Ferneyhough.

Ledbury hit back with a header from Dan Herbert but Pitt added his fourth just before the break following good work by Ryan Tabb.

Joe Taylor's acute-angled shot increased the villagers' lead at the start of the second period and Ferneyhough reacted quickly to notch number six after the stand-in Ledbury goalkeeper spilled Taylor's shot.

It was Ferneyhough who completed the scoring when he rifled home a fine shot from the edge of the area.
