HINTON moved up to sixth place in the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division after completing their first double of the season with a 3-0 win at Kington Town Reserves.

The visitors got off to an excellent start when Adam Jewitt fired home a penalty in the first five minutes after the referee spotted a handball in the six-yard box.

Damian Gallimore doubled the lead just before the break when he beat the Kington goalkeeper to Ian Morris' defence splitting pass.

Although Gallimore's initial shot came back off an upright, he was the quickest to react and was able to roll the ball into an empty net.

The second half followed a similar pattern with the Hinton defence remaining solid and giving the home team few opportunities to get a strike on goal.

And, with half-an-hour to play, man of the match Gallimore crowned an excellent individual performance when he latched on to Neil Bloomfield's pass and beat the keeper with a low drive.

Weston, who themselves won at Kington the previous week, kept their own good run going with a 2-1 win at Pegasus which leaves them just a place behind Hinton in the table.

But the South Herefordshire club certainly did not have matters all their own way against a youthful Pegasus side brimming over with enthusiasm.

Pegasus put Weston under plenty of first-half pressure and it was no surprise when the city side took the lead shortly before the interval.

But the second-half introduction of Weston substitute Sylvestre Mananasy galvanised the visitors and his good work paved the way for Keith Southern to equalise soon after the break.

More good work by Mananasy then played in Mark Parnham and the striker held off the attentions of two defenders to put the villagers in front.

Pegasus piled on the pressure for the last 15 minutes but Weston defended well to hold on to the points and complete their second double of the season.

Woofferton reinforced their grip on third place thanks to a brace from Daniel Gower in a 2-0 win at Fownhope.

Gower wasted no time in getting off the mark, volleying home in the first minute after Timmy Morriarty's cross-shot had only been half-cleared.

Woofferton continued to dominate and only good work from the Fownhope goalkeeper prevented efforts from Justin Wheatley, John Hirst and Steve Minton from increasing the visitors' lead.

Gower hammered a shot against the bar from a free-kick and, with debutants Chris Crabtree and Kristian Morgan making a solid impression, the second half continued with the home side still on top.

Fownhope were unfortunate not to level, however, when Matt Goodall was ruled offside.

But Woofferton continued to press and Fownhope keeper Roy Oval produced a clutch of fine saves before Gower sealed the win five minutes from time when he raced on to a defence-splitting pass from Wheatley to shoot home.
