Shrivenham 3 Pegasus Juniors 0

AN inability to convert chances into goals cost Pegasus dear as they slipped to defeat at the GLS Hellenic League Premier Division's third-placed side.

Pegasus had the better of the early action and Lewis Jones was unlucky not to register his first goal for the club when his fine shot from 30 yards clipped the top of the bar on the way over.

Shrivenham took the lead Against the run of play when Steve Thomas curled a free-kick around the Pegasus defensive wall and the home side should have extended their lead but Michael Silvanus half-volleyed over the bar after the visitors' defence had failed to deal with a long throw.

Six minutes into the second period the home side went further ahead when Bryn Watkins parried a Liam Thompson shot but only back into the striker's path and he tapped the ball into the empty net.

Jamie Cuss and Rob Laurie were foiled by fine saves and Chris Mortlock headed on to the roof of the net as Pegasus tried to hit back.

The visitors wasted a great chance to reduce arrears in the 66th minute, however, when Laurie was fouled in the area, only for Cory Hyde to see his penalty saved by goalkeeper Luke Alford.

Another fine free-kick by Thomas rounded off the scoring in the 77th minute.
