Hereford United 1 Cheltenham Town 4

ALTHOUGH defeated by a clear margin in the Football League Youth Alliance South West Conference, Hereford turned in one of their better performances of the season and looked at one stage as if they might emerge with at least a point.

Hereford made a promising start and Matt Stephens had a couple of chances in the early stages.

But after 20 minutes, a horrid blunder by goalkeeper Eifion Price, who completely missed his attempted clearance, allowed Cheltenham to take the lead with a simple goal.

Fifteen-year-old Shane Jennings came close to marking his debut with a goal when he shot just over. But Hereford received a just reward for their good play on the half-hour when Adam Worton's cross was headed in by skipper Kane Kahaki.

Twenty minutes into the second period, the visitors regained the lead when a through ball allowed two attackers, looking well offside, to advance with one slipping the ball into the back of the net.

A foul by Phil Davies gave away a penalty 15 minutes from time and the visitors wrapped up their win with a fourth goal five minutes from time.
