YOUNG Longtown motocross rider James Jones has already made a major impact in his sport despite taking it up only 11 months ago.

James' first season saw him race as far afield as Tenby and Llantrisant and brought him 13 trophies and twice saw him moved up in classes.

But the Ross Falcons' rider's greatest achievement was to carry off the British AMCA 125 Junior Wessex group championship, a victory achieved at County Hall in Cwmbran.

"James' dad Chris and his grandfather were both racers so there is a family tradition in the sport," said mum Sarah. "But James has outdone them all.

"He has been racing against 200 or so riders from across the country and has picked up some good firsts. Now his ambition is get into the experts section."

James is also throwing his support behind the construction of a motocross track in Hereford in memory of Jason Jones and he and his family have pledged their financial support to the project.
