IT has been another excellent year for Hereford and County Athletics Club who have been awarded Herefordshire Sports Council's Junior Team of the Year prize.
The club enjoyed another excellent season in the South East Wales Young Athletes League, carrying off the titles in the under-11 boys' league, the under-11 girls' league, the under-13 boys' league, the under-17 girls' league and, for the fifth year running, the combined boys and girls title. They also clinched runners-up spot in the under-13 girls' league.
As well as the South East Wales Young Athletes League, the club also fielded teams in the National Youth League, the Midland Women's League, the Midland Men's League, the Midland Counties League and the Herefordshire Championships.
Hereford Cathedral's 1st XV rugby squad picked up a highly commended award in this category after a fine season which saw them reach the last 16 of the Daily Mail National Cup before bowing out to Old Swinford Hospital.
Their achievement earned them a Rugby World magazine Team of the Month award and the side was unbeaten during the season until the Old Swinford Hospital defeat.
