A STRING of outstanding saves by goalkeeper Lisa Hughes helped Kington to claim a 0-0 home draw with KBS League leaders Presteigne.

Kington made a good start with some fine attacking play from Jenny Layton and Emma Turner in midfield and some dangerous runs from Holly Watson, on her senior team debut.

Good defensive work by the Kington quartet of Bev Hyde, Karon Jones, Sam Hackley and Hannah Davies at the other end ensured that the leaders were unable to break through before the interval.

After the break, Kington did well to defend a series of penalty corners but the home attack also caught the eye with Catherine Jones and Hannah Enticknap unlucky not to grab the vital goal.

There was a rare defeat for Tenbury who went down 2-1 away to Worcester 2nd in Division 1 of the Worcestershire Ladies' League.

Vicky Riley and Emily Davies caused the Worcester defence plenty of early problems as Tenbury earned a succession of short corners.

But the visitors failed to capitalise on any of these and, against the run of play, Worcester took the lead just before half-time.

Worcester scored again at the start of the second period but Tenbury gradually worked their way back into the game with Abi Thomas reducing arrears from a short corner.

Sarah Lea and Riley came within inches of grabbing an equaliser as time ran out but ultimately one of Tenbury's best performances of the season gained no reward.
