HEREFORD United will be hoping that their excellent sequence of results against Farnborough continues when their Nationwide Conference football season kicks off with a visit from the Hampshire side on August 14.

Farnborough have travelled to Edgar Street on five occasions since the Bulls were relegated from the Football League but have yet to gain a single point.

Last season, Boro were fortunate to escape relegation after finishing third from bottom in the Conference table, earning a reprieve when the Unibond League failed to provide a suitable promotion candidate.

The following Tuesday, United will be the visitors when Crawley Town stage their first ever Conference fixture after winning the Dr Martens League and on the Conference's second Saturday the Bulls will renew acquaintance with former league adversaries York City when they travel to Bootham Crescent.

"Those are a couple of interesting fixtures and a good opportunity to compare standards," said Bulls director of football Graham Turner.

"On the whole I'm not dissatisfied with the fixture list although it's a bit disappointing that we have the long trip to Exeter on Boxing Day.

"It's a long way for supporters to go but I suppose someone has to play them."

Last season's play-off adversaries Aldershot Town come to Edgar Street for a mid-week match on September 21 and the season winds up with a visit to Woking on April 30.
