WESTFIELDS FC have announced the appointment of two experienced coaches, Mick Panniers and Paul Mann, to their management team.

The duo will be joint managers of the Hereford-based club's senior team who finished sixth in the Travel Factory Midland Alliance last season.

Panniers has been managing West Midlands League club Kington Town, while Mann has been in charge of Hereford Times Herefordshire League outfit Sutton United.

They take over from Sean Edwards and Darren Lynch, both of whom have decided to relinquish their posts due to the time-consuming pressures of their jobs and personal circumstances.

Lynch has stepped down to give more time to his business, but Edwards will continue to play a role with the club and has been appointed to a newly-formed position as 'head of football'.

Westfields chief executive Andy Morris said: "Sean and Darren did a superb job last season and guided us to our highest-ever position in the non-league pyramid. The team also carried off the HFA County Challenge Cup.

"Sean recommended a new structure at team management level which our committee accepted. It was agreed to offer Mick and Paul the joint managers' post under Sean who will direct the way forward as head of football.

"Mick has achieved league championship and league cup successes at Kington and has good contacts with local players. Under Paul's management Sutton lifted the HFL Senior Cup and both he and Mick will benefit from working with Sean who is an excellent coach.

"As well as our first team, we field a side in the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division, an under-18 youth team, six junior sides and a girls' team, so we need more people to help on a day-to-day basis."

Peter Williams and Jimmy Clyde will continue to manage the club's Hereford Times League team, while Brian Jones and Andy Jones will be in charge of the under-18 youth side.

l Westfields will be holding their annual dinner and awards presentation evening at The Left Bank Village on Friday, June 10.
