WESTFIELDS marked the end of a momentous season, which saw them enjoy their first campaign in the Midland Alliance and move to their new allpay.park headquarters, with their presentation evening at the Left Bank Village.

And fittingly, in view of his efforts in making the move to the new ground possible, the clubman of the year award went to chief executive Andy Morris.

"No-one else could have won this award this year after what we have achieved off the field with sponsorship and in getting our own ground," said chairman John Morgan. "This has been done by Andy's leadership."

In his address, Morris said: "While we have won no silverware this season, we have achieved our ambition by securing our own ground at allpay.park.

"After having to start the season at Stourport until December 27, we eventually got to allpay.park and never looked back.

"The club is now secure and our support from Hereford Sixth Form College in giving us a 30-year lease means we can provide a sound base for the club."

Morris gave special thanks to allpay.net, the sponsors of the new ground and singled out Brian Jones, manager of the club's under-18 side, for a special mention for his work in continuing the club's development.

He concluded by saying: "With the new reorganisation in non-league soccer, we have a great chance to continue up the football pyramid as we have a superb management team in Sean Edwards, Darren Lynch and Mark Newman.

"Our squad of players is the best in the county. They are first-class in their commitment and attitude and could take us to further success under this management team."

The toast to the club was proposed by Newsquest Midlands (South) managing director Andy Tipler, who sponsored and presented the awards on behalf of the Hereford Times.

"The Hereford Times has sponsored Westfields for more than 20 years and we will continue again next year," said Mr Tipler.

"We are pleased to be part of your success."
