Hereford United must see off one of their bogy sides to maintain their lead at the top of the Nationwide Conference when Leigh RMI visit Edgar Street on Saturday.

The Railwaymen have previously made four trips to Hereford, including one in the FA Trophy, and have yet to lose after claiming two wins and two draws, conceding just one goal.

But, this time, the Bulls will feel confident of doing rather better, with managerless Leigh sitting uncomfortably one place from the bottom of the table with just one win and one draw from their seven away games to date.

United look likely, however, to be without Paul Parry, sidelined with an ankle injury picked up in last week's FA Cup tie with Harrow Borough, although there is better news of full-back Ryan Green who hopes to resume on Saturday after missing the Harrow match with a calf problem.

Rob Purdie's fitness, though, is still in the balance and, with centre-back Andy Tretton still some way from full recovery from his thigh injury, Hereford have extended Tamika Mkandawire's loan from West Bromwich Albion for a further month.

Two of United's regulars have been denied the chance of further international honours, for the time being, because of the club's continued involvement in the LDV Vans Trophy.

Goalkeeper Matt Baker and full-back Michael Rose have been withdrawn from the England National Game squad to play Belgium at Darlington next Tuesday because the match clashes with United's LDV second-round tie with Northampton Town at Edgar Street.

With larger crowds becoming the norm once again at Edgar Street - the current average attendance for the seven Nationwide Conference games so far is 4,031, more than twice the figure at the same stage last year - United have decided to open the Blackfriars Street terracing for Saturday's game.

Although the terracing is open to all, United are hoping that the area will be used by families wishing to avoid the congestion in the Meadow End.

The main office will be open for a brief spell at the end of the game to sell tickets for United's away game at Shrews-bury on November 22, which has been declared all-ticket for Hereford fans.

Season-ticket holders and membership cardholders can obtain their tickets from the office in Blackfriars Street until tomorrow (Friday) after which sales will be open to the general public.

Stand tickets cost £14 (£9 concession) and terrace tickets £12 (£9 concession) but payment should be by cash or cheque only.
