WALES boss Tomi Morgan is hoping that Hereford United duo Paul Parry and Tony James will inspire the defending champions to victory in this season's Four Nations Semi-Pro Tournament, writes Ian Morgan.

Morgan says that he intends to pick the United pair for the tournament, which is being hosted by the Football Association of Wales in May.

Last season, Parry and James both impressed as Wales won the inaugural tournament after beating Scotland and Eire and drawing with pre-competition favourites England.

Morgan said: "Parry and James performed very well for us last year and I want them to figure for us this time. They are both top quality players and I have been keeping an eye on their performances this season."

He added: "There will probably be more pressure on us this year because nobody expected us to win the tournament last season, but we are all looking forward to it."

Parry and James could line up against Hereford team-mate Michael Rose, who is tipped for selection to the England National Game squad for the competition.

Of Rose, Hereford manager Graham Turner said: "We have had some very good individual performances this season where players have made progress and he is one of those I would like to pick out. I am told that he performed very well for the England National Game XI in their recent match in Holland.

It was a serious set-back for Rose when, having left Manchester United, he was released by Chester City. I can see the steady progress that Rose has made during the season."

Tournament schedule: Tuesday, May 20, Wales v Scotland (Camarthen), England v Eire (Merthyr); Thursday, May 22, Wales v England (Merthyr), Eire v Scotland (Haverfordwest); Saturday, May 24, Scotland v England (Camarthen), Wales v Eire (Haverfordwest).
