WESTFIELDS continued their excellent recent form with a fifth consecutive Midland Alliance League win with ex-Bristol City striker Matt Aubrey coming on in the second half to grab a debut goal.

The home attack started made a lively start and almost bagged two early goals when Derek Craddock's header hit an upright, and Paul Burton's crisp shot was well-saved by Alvechurch goalkeeper Andy Harper.

Action at both ends saw Roy Jordan and Burton go close for Westfields and Alvechurch being denied by timely tackles from Scott Jackson and Paul Price.

Westfields made the breakthrough five minutes after the restart when good work by skipper Mark Hibbard and Wayne Hoskins set up a chance for Jordan, the former Hereford United youngster beating two defenders before cracking a low shot past Harper.

The introduction of Aubrey, who had three years on the staff at Bristol City, had an immediate impact, with the striker using his height and strength to set up chances for his colleagues.

Hibbard's cracking shot rebounded from an upright with Chris Jefferson collecting the rebound only for Harper to make a superb save.

However Westfields extending their winning run when Aubrey chased a long ball out of defence to collect and round the goalkeeper to fire home.

l WESTFIELDS are to host three Hereford Times Herefordshire League Cup finals at their new allpay.park ground.

The Frank Peterson Cup final will be held there on Saturday, March 27, the HFL Junior Cup final on Saturday, April 17 and the HFL Journal Cup final on Saturday, May 1. All three will kick-off at 6pm.

"We are only too pleased for the Herefordshire League to have their finals at allpay.park," said Westfields chief executive Andy Morris.

"It's a superb facility and one we are proud to offer for the cup finals."
