Westfields 5

Stratford Town 3

WESTFIELDS claimed their first ever Midland Alliance League points at their new Moor House headquarters with a thrilling win over league leaders Stratford.

They attacked from the start and gave the leaders an early fright when Paul Burton raced clear but fired wide.

At the other end Jon Pugh made a full-length diving save to deny Scott Durrock, but Westfields hit back to take a 12th minute lead when Roy Jordan's cross was met by Scott Jackson who beat goalkeeper Lee Keyte with a superb 20-yard chip.

Chris Jefferson extended the lead with a crisp, low drive, and just before the break Jordan completed an outstanding first-half performance with a third goal.

Durrock pounced to reduce the deficit soon after the restart, but Westfields restored their three-goal advantage when Jordan produced the goal-of-the-match, beating two defenders in a brilliant run before cutting in to hit the target with a sizzling 20-yard drive.

Pugh once again saved Westfields with a superb save from Durrock, but Westfields put the result beyond doubt with a fifth goal, again inspired by the dangerous Jordan.

He made ground before teeing up a chance for Matt Morris, the youngster's shot being parried by Keyte to an alert Derek Craddock who slammed the ball home.

Stratford made a final flourish with Durrock completing a deserved hat-trick to end a memorable game.
