THE Scrumpy House restaurant at Much Marcle has won a much-coveted AA Rosette.
The restaurant, on the site of the Weston's cider plant, has been run for the last four-and-a-half years by Matthew and Annalisa Slocombe.
"It's a real accolade for us, because it's a proper award, not like some guides," said Mr Slocombe.
The award is made to restaurants nominated by members of the public. Anonymous inspectors then visit for both lunch and dinner to see if it is up to the expected quality.
"We are told they particularly liked the intimate atmosphere and the lovely gardens, and they also appreciated the high-quality local produce," said Mr Slocombe.
"We pride ourselves on that. If you have roast beef here on Sunday, everything on the plate come not just from Herefordshire, but from the village of Much Marcle itself."
