ONE of Hereford's oldest buildings has a new future - as long as it stays up.
The latest fears about the impending collapse of Cathedral Barn, Cathedral Close, come in the most recent Hereford Civic Society newsletter.
Society vice-chairman Graeme Allen writes that that the barn, "reputed to the oldest building in Hereford", will be the "oldest ruin" if restoration is delayed much longer.
The barn has been on the English Heritage At Risk register for some time
Hereford Cathedral believes the barn - now used as a garage - can be a secure store with its conversion coming as part of the planned makeover of the Close.
Lottery money will be needed to make that happen.
Glyn Morgan, of Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust, said that the "first priority" was getting the barn off the At Risk register.
Surveys showed that the barn was "not likely" to fall down, he said.
