A TIME capsule has just been buried at Holy Trinity Church where a generous donation by a long-standing member of the congregation has funded the installation of a permanent stage.

The church is home to many of Hereford's musical groups, among them Hereford String Orchestra, Hereford Police Male Voice Choir and the Rail Choir, as well as the venue for the sixth form college's end-of-term concert.

Musical director Shaun Ward, who is also a member of the team from Trevor Hewett Architects who have overseen the project, is very excited about the new facility.

"This is the first stage in making the building more open to the community," he says. "Historically, the church was an integral part of the community and this marks a return to that."

Joining the Reverend Brian Chave to bury the time capsule, intended to give future generations a taste of life at Holy Trinity and in Hereford today, was 82-year-old Roy Pearce, a reader at the church for the last 50 years and a member of the congregation from childhood.

Mr Pearce made the donation that enabled the improvements to Holy Trinity Church in memory of his parents and sister.
