Kington Festival has found itself short of volunteer members to plan and run its events in 2006 - a milestone year.
It has issued an appeal to representatives of other local community organisations to join its ranks and share the load.
Outgoing festival chairman Niki Scott, who has reluctantly stepped down after many years of service, said: "We've been unable to find a replacement to chair our committee and without someone to co-ordinate our activities the future is looking uncertain. After many years of sterling service a number of stalwarts have also retired and 'new blood' is desperately needed if the festival association is to continue to function."
Kington Festival takes place in early June and provides a wide range of entertaining and sporting events that are well supported by the community.
"But we need to recruit more volunteers to ensure we can continue with these activities," said festival treasurer Gordon Davison.
"It would be a great shame if the festival were to be allowed to disappear as 2006 is its 30th anniversary year. It is financially viable and has plenty of core support with the potential to carry on for many more years, provided we can attract more willing hands."
Anyone who wants to help can call either Jan Hussey on 01544 231371 or Gordon Davison on 01544 239088. Alternatively, an open meeting is planned for The Burton Hotel, Kington, on November 22, starting at 7.30pm.
