HEREFORDSHIRE Nature Trust has joined forces with a private waste company to help protect some of the county's most important wildlife sites.
More than 50 sites, covering more than 700 acres, are looked after by the trust and its 2,500 members.
Under the partnership with Severn Waste Services, it is planned to improve habitat at 38 of the most important sites. Most of the work will continue to be done by volunteers who put in 6,000 hours of effort last year but funding from Severn Waste Services will allow the trust to employ an officer to co-ordinate projects.
The waste company will also help with the cost of running vehicles and pay for tools and volunteer training schemes.
