VITAL shelter has arrived in quake-hit Kashmir to help the earth tremor victims left homeless in remote areas, courtesy of Rotary clubs from Herefordshire.

Generous communities are being asked to dig deep to help fund the Rotary International Shelterbox scheme, which proved so successful in the aftermath of the tsunami.

Thousands of pounds are being donated in shopping centres and other collection points throughout the region. And every pound helps - £490 is enough to equip a full Shelterbox, containing a tent for 10 people, with sleeping blankets, cooking utensils and water purification tablets.

Seven thousand similar boxes, including some funded by Herefordshire clubs, have already been shipped out from Rotary International in the United Kingdom. But more are desperately needed. Anyone who wants to donate should contact their local Rotary Club.
