HEADTEACHERS across Herefordshire are celebrating sharing in cash aimed at taking cars off congested roads and encouraging children to walk and cycle to school.
A total of 22 schools will share £124,900 of Government funding after they successfully developed their own schemes to cut back on car dependency as part of the school run.
Herefordshire Council's school travel team helped develop the plans with individual schools before submitting an application for funds.
The 16 primary schools to benefit are Ashperton, Bredenbury, Brockhampton, Clehonger, Fownhope St Mary's, Garway, Ledbury, Leintwardine, Llangrove, Madley, Marden, Mordiford, Much Birch, Peterchurch, Trinity and Withington.
Aylestone, Bishop of Hereford, Haywood and Kingstone are the four high schools to receive cash. Barrs Court and Brookfield are the two special schools sharing the pot of money.
