Two Ledbury youngsters are wondering who the phantom pumpkin-snatcher of New Street might be, after someone helped themselves to their prized exhibits.

Anya Courtenany, seven, and her sister, Evie, four, have been looking forward to halloween by growing their own pumpkins with a view to hollowing them out and making scary faces.

But last week, someone entered their garden and cut away several pumpkins.

Their father, Andrew, believes that other children might be to blame because the biggest pumpkin proved to big to carry and was dropped by the thieves.

He said: "The girls were a little upset by the incident. It's the idea that someone can come into your garden and take someone else's property."

The sisters are just relieved they still have the biggest pumpkin to carve after all, to make the most of Monday's celebrations.
