Ledbury Town manager Dave Connell walked out on the club following the 4-1 defeat at Tividale on Saturday.

The New Street side are next to bottom in the West Midlands premier division and have won just two and drawn two of their 17 starts so far this season.

Connell, a former Bromsgrove Rovers Reserves manager, was appointed in May to take over at the start of this season.

Club chairman Chris Stephens said: "He (Connell) seemed to lose the plot at half-time and was kicking things about 'Ferguson-style'. He said that he had had enough and was jacking the job in.

"He left on his own accord and said that he didn't have any new players that he could bring in and was struggling to find players in the team's catchment area, which is actually quite small."

Stephens said assistant manager Tim Bullock, with the help of Richard Welch, will be looking after the team until the club hopes to appoint a new manager on November 5.

Stephens said the team has had difficulty scoring goals but has a number of good young players and just needs a few older heads amongst them.

Stephens said: "We only had one application for the manager's job last time so our hands were tied but there has been two applications already and anyone else who is interested is asked to contact me, on 07929 268947 or at the club on 01531 631463, before the closing date of October 31.

"We will be hoping to settle a team down for our opening game in the FA Vase on November 19, where we are keen to make progress again this year."

Ledbury entertained higher-graded Pegasus in the Senior Floodlit Cup on Wednesday and were unlucky to slip to a 1-0 defeat.

Good goalkeeping by Adam McTear saw Ledbury still 0-0 at half-time but Jordie Hyde scored for Pegasus in the 50th minute before he was sent-off.

New signing Daryl Bayliss and the returning Stuart Hall were unlucky as Ledbury pushed hard for an equaliser in a much-improved performance.

Man-of-the-match was Chris Powell.
