WITH a depleted squad, Bromyard battled really hard against top three side Great Wyrley.

GREAT WYRLEY 2, BROMYARD TOWN 0

The home team narrowly edged the first half on chances but Bromyard's defence and midfield held firm and the score was 0-0 at the interval.

After the break, the visitors had the better of it and it looked as though Ryan Broadhurst's run at the heart of Wyrley's defence would give them the opening but he was hacked down just outside the box and James Banks' free-kick went just wide.

With 12 minutes remaining, Wyrley got a break when the ball fell to one of their players, whose speculative shot ended up in Bromyard's net.

With a minute remaining and the visitors looking for a deserved equaliser, Wyrley made it 2-0 with a shot rebounding in off the post.

Adie Crowther, in the heart of Bromyard's defence, had a superb game.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Bromyard open their FA Vase campaign with a visit from FA Cup celebrities Chasetown from the Midland Alliance.
