NOVICE cheerleaders from Leominster's Minster College - The Minster Lions - won praise for their performance in the British National Cheerleading Championships, which attracted more than 3,200 entrants.
Lions coach Tim Miller said the team was going from strength to strength.
"In only their second competitive outing, they almost doubled their previous score." The Minster girls gained a creditable score for competition newcomers - 156 points. The wining team gained 225.
Said Mr Miller: "Cheerleading is dynamically spirited, athletic and colourful and few activities generate as much community pride and worthwhile values. The college is proud to boast the only officially registered team in Herefordshire."
