CHILDREN on some North Herefordshire housing estates are going wild this summer.

WildPlay Rangers Lily Horseman and Jo Polack are running play activities that help youngsters explore the wildlife and habitats in their area in a scheme backed by the Marches Housing Association.

You'd be amazed at the variety of wildlife you can find just outside your own front door and we encourage the children to see what's outside theirs," said Lily.

We also do related activities such as making our own bugs, planting herb gardens, making kites and dens and telling stories."

Christine Bailey, at the Marches, said: "The children on our estates look forward to these play days as they provide something different and exciting to do during the summer holidays that doesn't involve spending all day in front of the TV or computer.

"They are fun days but also educational."

The WildPlay Rangers have been to Leominster's Paradise Court, Steensbridge and Ridgemoor and are due to visit the following estates:

August 22 - Barons Cross, 10am-noon; August 24 - Cherrybrook Close, Hope under Dinmore, 2-4pm; August 24 - Merwald Close, Leominster, 10am-noon; August 25 - Deer Park, Ledbury.
