SAVE THE CHILDREN -Despite the torrential downpour last month, supporters of the Save the Children Fund Tea in the garden at Tyrrells Court House, raised £500. June Chase skilfully seated everyone within her home, filling every corner. Produce and cakes were passed through garden doors to eager buyers. Leonard Chase, upon hearing the dire weather forecast, spent the previous day picking basketfuls of cherries, so no one was disappointed. Everyone enjoyed their cream tea and the chance to chat to friends. Spirits lifted further when BBC TV showed coverage of the first plane load of food being distributed by the SCF to the starving children in Niger.
Chairman of the Hereford Save the Children Fund, June Chase, was amazed by the support for the event and has extended thanks to everyone for venturing out on such a wet day.
