Colwall seconds got back to winning ways on Saturday with an impressive 93-run league victory against struggling Trowbridge seconds.

Having won the toss, Colwall lost Burgess early but a steady partnership between Dudfield (17) and Powell (29) got the game back on track for the home side.

Both went within quick succession of each other and King and Berry did not help the cause much. McClellan joined Sheppard at the wicket with a partnership needed at 102-5.

They were successful in taking the score to 160 before McClellan fell for 32, by this stage Sheppard had brought up his half century and was accelerating.

Hylands joined him and played very sensibly taking the one run often and giving the strike to Sheppard. In the penultimate over Sheppard reached his century in 88 balls. Colwall finished on 226-7.

If Colwall could get early wickets Trowbridge would always struggle and Elsden produced two early breakthroughs.

D Berry and King chipped in with two and three wickets each and at 88-8, it looked as though the opposition would not reach three figures. But an obstinate, although slow 28 from Crangle guided them to 133 all out.

It was a good performance from Colwall and produced a much-needed win.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Colwall seconds are away at Devizes.
