AROUND 500 riders will be converging on Berrington Hall on August 6 and 7 to take part in the annual Berrington Horse Trials.
Riders will have the opportunity of competing over the course, designed by Gary Podmore, in the superb Capability Brown-landscaped grounds of the Berrington Hall estate on the A49 Leominster-Ludlow road.
On the Saturday, there will be novice and pre-novice sections with a junior regional novice qualifier for young riders to attempt to gain a place on the Wales and Border team to compete at the three-day event at Weston Park in October. More pre-novice sections and four intro sections take place on the Sunday.
Dressage competition will begin at 8.30am on each day with show jumping taking place a further hour on followed by cross-country sections at 10.30am.
The cross-country course will have a few changes from last year with the last jump commemorating the links that Berrington Hall has to the sea and the Battle of Trafalgar. A brand new water jump is being built.
Various trade stands, including a bar and food stall will be on hand and spectators are welcome, cost £5 per car.
