THE Kath Shellam Memorial harness racing meeting in aid of the Acorns Children's Hospice has had to be switched from Hanley Swan to the Leominster circuit on Sunday, August 7.
With a change in farming policy, the usual circuit was unavailable, and it was deemed safer to move the entire meeting to Leominster than risk running out of time preparing a new track for 2005.
Kath Shellam, whose untimely death last October shocked and saddened supporters of the sport, was the driving force behind the small but energetic committee which has run the hugely popular charity meetings in recent years.
The aim of the meeting on August 7 is to raise enough money to kit out an entire suite at the Acorns Children's Hospice and dedicate it to Kath's memory.
Competitors are keen to support the fixture, and there is sure to be a bumper card, which will include a Free For All as the feature race.
Racing will begin at The Wharf, Leominster, at 2 pm on August 7. For further details, or donations to the Acorns Children's Hospice, contact Dave Shellam on 07961 602896.
