Leominster turned the tables on Worfield to reach the semi-finals of Shropshire & Hereford-shire Handicap League with a 4-1 win at their Ford Bridge course.

The previous week Leominster had gone down 4-2 at Worfield but the team used course knowledge to their advantage in the return leg to secure a place in the last four 6-5 on aggregate.

n Jon Devereux equalled the course record at Herefordshire GC with a round that included six birdies and an eagle when competing in the midweek stableford.

n Teams of former Hereford Municipal members, representing Herefordshire GC and Belmont, and two from the Welsh Cup contested with eight home teams in the Don Jarvis Memorial Trophy at the Racecourse.

The team event counted the best two stableford scores on each hole with each member receiving one tenth of the team's combined total handicap.

The Herefordshire GC team of Shaun Vivian, Andy James, Ian McLaren and Nigel Dentist were the long-time clubhouse leaders with 77 points but were relegated to runners-up spot when the final Municipal team to finish - Kevin Childs, John Bromley, Pete Francis and David Williams - came in with an impressive 79.

All proceeds went to the Special Care Baby Unit at Hereford County Hosp-ital.

Junior Mark Keddie will be hoping to make it a hat-trick of UK qualifiers for St Andrews when he competes in the regional finals of the NAPGC Open Championship at Thorn-bury next week.
