FUN DAY - Last Saturday was Fun Day including a car boot sale in the meadow next to the Bell Inn. MP David Davies performed the opening ceremony. The Monmouth Band played, and on the castle green, Mary Thomas, helped by Jean Turner, had her barbecue. More than 1,000 brightly coloured balls (duck eggs) were tipped into the river for the 'duck race' won by Susie Warfield who claimed the first prize of £100. The new Fun Day committee, led by Stuart Penny, must have been well pleased with their efforts. Kath Jasper, who started the Skenfrith Fun Day several years ago, kept a low profile this year, but was once again in charge of seeing that the duck race tickets and money came in on time.
BARBECUE - There will be a thank you barbecue on Saturday, August 13, for everyone who helped with this year's Fun Day. It will start at 7.30pm, on the river bank or in the village hall if wet. RSVP to Stuart and Linda Penny on 01600 750512.
