HEREFORDSHIRE'S FC Phoenix will be taking on a central role at the Community Shield final between Arsenal and Chelsea at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.
Forty young club members and eight coaches will be attending the final on Sunday, August 7 to give a football display before the main match.
The club was selected for the honour by the FA after repeatedly winning the organisation's awards over the last few years.
The club members to go to Cardiff will be picked by ballot and will represent the boys' under-14 and under-16 and the girls' under-13 and under-14 and the ladies' sections. Rehearsals are already underway for the display of training routines that they will give.
"It will be a fantastic day for the kids, a once in a lifetime chance, and is an absolute pinnacle for the club," said proud club secretary and development co-ordinator Ralph Farmer.
Phoenix have achieved Charter Standard and Development Club Standard and are now an FA Community Club, the first club in Herefordshire to achieve this ranking.
