BROADLANDS School have become the Herefordshire Football Association's FA Charter Standard Primary School of the Year for 2005.
To mark the award, the school was presented with a pennant and a bag of football equipment by the HFA football development officer Paul Carpenter.
"The award has been given to Broadlands to recognise their outstanding contribution to football," said Carpenter. "Broadlands are now working with me towards the school becoming an FA Charter Standard Development Primary School, the next rung up the school football development ladder."
Broadlands had double cause for celebration after the girls' team carried off the HFA annual primary school girls' gold shield at Hereford Leisure Centre after a tense penalty shoot-out against St Paul's.
The silver shield competition was won by Burghill, who defeated Gorsley Goffs in the final.
The girls' secondary school leagues, hosted by Whitecross School, were won by Haywood at under-12 and under-16 level with the under-14 competition won by Queen Elizabeth, Bromyard.
