A SATURDAY morning walk about the roads of Kingsland has raised £15,000.

Organisers Lyn Perrott and Emma Strangwood are so overwhelmed with the response they have already decided to do it again next year.

The money has been given to the Charles Renton Unit of the County Hospital, in Hereford, in appreciation of the work it does for cancer patients.

Chief executive David Rose said the cash would be put into a rebuilding fund.

The work of the Charles Renton Unit has grown over the years and Hereford Hospitals Trust wants to rebuild what is already an accredited cancer unit in the future.

At Kingsland more than 200 people took part in the sponsored walk, which was supported by Hereford boxer Dazzo Williams. Later in the day, about 300 attended a social in the Coronation Hall.

Lyn Perrott said it was a well supported event and thanked all the people who had given their help and services in making it a success.

Next year's walk will also raise funds for the Charles Renton Unit.
