THE recesssive gene in Ryeland sheep is expected to be discussed at the annual meeting of the Ryeland Flock Book Society in Hereford on Saturday.
The society's council members meet in the morning at the Railway Club with representative attending from as far as Scotland and southern England. The annual meeting is in the afternoon and besides the election of officers there will be a number of items discussed. One of them is likely to be the recessive gene. The true Ryeland Breeders Group is actively pursuing channels of investigation designed to identify coloured gene carriers.
