A TUPSLEY bowling club is celebrating an award of over £4,000 from the Millennium Festival Awards for All scheme toward upgrading its facilities.

The £4,324 grant will allow St Martin's to start work in September to improve its kitchen, toilets, lighting and heating, security and level their bowling green.

Club president Frank Harwood said: "This is an enormous boost to our club which has endured many difficulties over the past five to six years."

Members are already preparing for the coming season and are working on the green and clubhouse for the opening day on April 23.

Anyone who is interested in joining the club can come along on any of these dates. The club is open to men, women and the disabled with an annual subscription of £30.
